Nursing Home Cleared in Wrongful Death Accusations

10.07.2016

After a lengthy trial and half a day of deliberation, a Harrison County, West Virginia, jury cleared Heartland nursing home and its parent company HCR ManorCare Inc. of any liability in the death of an 87-year-old woman several weeks after she left the nursing home.

Bailey Glasser attorneys Greg Haddad, Kerrie Boyle, Becky Pomeroy and Ben Bailey represented HCR ManorCare in the case.

The trial lasted three weeks — one of the longest trials Harrison County has ever seen. The complex case also required rearranging of the courtroom: Half of the courtroom’s benches were removed to make room for supporting personnel and technology, according to the Exponent-Telegram.

Bailey told the newspaper that he was “grateful for the jury’s hard work and thoughtful consideration of everything we did.”
