Michael Murphy Joins Board of Directors for Open Hands Overflowing Hearts

05.05.2015

Michael Murphy has joined the Board of Directors for Open Hands Overflowing Hearts (OHOH), a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about pediatric cancer research.

OHOH was founded in 2014 by Kayla Perry after she was diagnosed with high-risk stage IV neuroblastoma, a pediatric cancer that is typically found in very young children and infants.  Kayla had recently graduated high school when she was diagnosed. Two weeks after her last treatment ended, Kayla’s doctor informed her that the cancer had grown and the chances of her being cured were very low.  Kayla’s goal then changed from curing the disease to maintaining the disease. Childhood cancer research receives less than 4% of government funding and it is Kayla’s passion to change that through OHOH in an effort to raise awareness of the disease and raise funds in hopes that one day there will be an end to childhood cancer.

The Board of Directors is comprised of the following people: Dr. Luigi Bertoli, Mr. J.D. Crowe, Mr. Dick DeShazo, Dr. Grant Endy, Mrs. Gwen Freeman, Mrs. Kristi Malzahn, Mr. Michael Murphy, Mrs. Christen Perry (Executive Director), Ms. Kayla Perry (Founder), Mr. Rob Perry (Co-Executive Director), Mr. Adam Rhoadesm, and Dr. Debbie Sema.

Michael, a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C., concentrates his practice in complex litigation, including consumer class actions, complex commercial litigation, qui tam and false claims matters, and parens patriae litigation.
