
Overview
Stephen C. Scott is a member of the firm’s Commercial and Environmental Litigation Practice Group, where he represents business clients in complex litigation involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference, fraud, fraudulent transfer actions, and claims under both federal and state statutes. His litigation experience also includes mass tort actions, spin-off and distribution agreements, credit reporting disputes, and construction-related matters.
Stephen has advised clients in the emerging technology sector, including global manufacturers bringing innovations such as e-bikes to market. He has counseled organizations on the legal risks associated with the use of artificial intelligence in content generation, including visual artwork. Additionally, he has contributed to thought leadership on the evolving legal and regulatory landscape of autonomous vehicles.
As a litigator, Stephen draws on his Appalachian-born grit to help clients achieve favorable outcomes across challenging legal terrains. He pairs a sharp eye for analyzing complex issues with a creative, solution-oriented approach to resolving them.
Prior to joining Bailey Glasser, Stephen practiced in the Pittsburgh office of a global law firm, where he was also named a Pittsburgh Business Times’ “30 Under 30.”
Stephen earned his J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law, where he served as Executive Notes Editor on the West Virginia Law Review. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Judge Stephanie D. Thacker of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Proud of his Appalachian roots, Stephen is committed to serving his home state of West Virginia, his alma mater, and his broader community. He has volunteered as a youth leader for middle and high school students at his church. Stephen also represented individuals in civil rights litigation against state actors and has worked on civil justice reform initiatives with police, community activists, and members, as well as corporate and nonprofit leaders.
