Thomas Goodhead

Overview

Thomas Goodhead is a member of Bailey Glasser International's International Litigation and Arbitration Practice Group and is an employed barrister of the London office with deep experience handling transnational mass tort and group litigation.

For over 16 years, Thomas has assisted clients across mass tort litigation of many kinds, including two of the largest cases in English legal history.

The first, brought on behalf of more than 620,000 Brazilian claimants affected by the 2015 Mariana dam collapse — the worst environmental disaster in Brazil's history — was tried over twelve weeks in the High Court and produced one of the most consequential judgments in English legal history. The second, on behalf of 1.5 million British motorists in the Pan-NOx (Dieselgate) emissions proceedings against five of the world's largest manufacturers, remains the largest consumer claim ever brought in the United Kingdom.

Thomas's earlier work included successfully resolving the Volkswagen, British Airways, Uber, Transvaginal Mesh and UEFA group litigations. Across these and other matters, he has recovered hundreds of millions of pounds of damages for Claimants.

Thomas is a barrister with the Honourable Society of the Lincoln's Inn. He is a graduate of the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, and the City University of London, where he received his CPE in Law.

Thomas has limited working proficiency in Portuguese and French.
