Jeremy Evans

Overview

Jeremy Evans is BGI's managing partner and is a senior lawyer with over 16 years of experience handling complex environmental law, corporate accountability, commercial disputes, and competition law across the UK and international jurisdictions. He has been recognized as a key lawyer by The Legal 500 and is known for holding major corporations to account in landmark proceedings before the Commercial Court and the UK Business Courts.

Jeremy has extensive experience acting for large groups of claimants in environmental and corporate accountability litigation. He was a key member of the team on the BHP Group litigation — one of the largest group actions ever heard in England & Wales — successfully establishing English court jurisdiction before completing a 14-week liability trial brought by thousands of claimants affected by the Mariana dam disaster.

Alongside his group litigation work, Jeremy has experience across a range of commercial disputes including injunctions, intellectual property copyright claims, and breach of contract. Previously a partner at Pogust Goodhead, he led the firm's Competition Law team and served as Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP), with firm-wide responsibility for SRA compliance, AML, and data protection.

Jeremy has also handled complex, high-value litigation at Leigh Day — ranked Band 1 for claimant group litigation by Chambers UK — including defective product cases. He trained and qualified at RMPI LLP, where he gained experience across personal injury, clinical negligence, defamation, and contract disputes.

He holds an LLB from the University of Kent, and completed the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, London, with Distinction.
