Charleston, West Virginia Paralegal Position
Bailey & Glasser, LLP, a national law firm engaged in cutting-edge litigation, seeks a litigation paralegal for our Charleston, West Virginia office.
The firm seeks a team player with excellent written, oral, and technical skills (i.e., computer and common software applications). Requirements:
- A minimum of 10 years paralegal experience.
- Must have experience seeing cases from inception through resolution.
- This is a fully in-person position and individuals must be committed to reporting to the office five days a week.
Duties
- Assist attorneys in the preparation and organization of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery materials.
- Conduct thorough legal research using platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies.
- Manage case files and maintain accurate records within document management systems, ensuring compliance with all legal standards.
- Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, and meetings, while providing executive administrative support as needed.
- Review and summarize documents for relevance and importance in litigation cases.
- Prepare trial exhibits and assist in trial preparation by organizing evidence and witness lists.
- Playing an important role at trial as part of Bailey Glasser litigation teams before federal and state courts in West Virginia and beyond.
- Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and court personnel while maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Perform data entry, document review, transcription, and proofreading tasks to ensure accuracy in all legal documentation.
Our firm's paralegals play important office roles because they are trusted with providing both legal and administrative support to attorneys, and we rely on them to keep things running smoothly. Additional duties may include handling certain telephone calls, scheduling, time and record keeping, arranging travel and meetings, coordinating mailings, and working on special projects. Exceptional independent judgment and multi-tasking skills are required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diverse and exciting workload.
Skills
- Proven paralegal experience with a strong understanding of litigation processes.
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
- Familiarity with document and case management systems.
- Strong writing and proofreading skills with the ability to draft clear legal documents and correspondence.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail for managing multiple cases simultaneously.
- Strong clerical experience with proficiency in filing in both state and federal courts.
