Athanasios Basdekis
Athanasios is an experienced trial attorney who concentrates his practice in complex civil litigation. He has tried more than 10 cases to jury verdict and handled oral arguments on scores of appeals and dispositive motions. He has conducted hundreds of depositions and handled a wide variety of matters in both traditional courtroom and alternative dispute forums.
Athanasios represents clients in complex cases around the country. He represented the Refco Litigation Trust in connection with the prosecution of claims arising from Refco Inc.'s multi-billion dollar bankruptcy in the Southern District of New York, has represented the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in matters stemming from major national bank failures, and has represented the Trustee of a bankrupt mining company against one of the nation's largest energy companies. Athanasios also has substantial experience in representing personal injury victims. He obtained a multi-million verdict on behalf of a minor who suffered catastrophic injuries in a swimming pool accident case, a number of multi-million dollar settlements in a product liability and other injury cases, and a punitive damages verdict against a drunk driver in a hit-and-run case.
Athanasios previously served as an Adjunct Professor at Catholic University's Columbus School of Law, where he taught Advanced Federal Practice and Procedure from 2000-2003.
